Eduardo Infante de Oliveira, MD, FESC, is currently an interventional cardiologist at University Hospital Santa Maria in Lisbon, Portugal. He has been in this position since 2007. Dr. Infante de Oliveira currently performs approximately 200 coronary interventions per year, including primary angioplasty, chronic total occlusions, left main trunk, bifurcations and rotational atherectomy. He is also interested in structural interventions: left atrial appendage closure, aortic valve replacement, patent foramen ovale, atrial septal defect closure and paravalvular leaks. Dr. Infante de Oliveira also performs peripheral interventions, namely renal artery denervation. He is a certified proctor for the Watchman device (left atrial appendage closure) and for the Symplicity renal artery denervation system and cooperates with several medical device and pharmaceutical companies as a consultant. He has been a lecturer of medical education at the Institute of Physiology at University of Lisbon since 1995. He previously worked as a cardiologist for the Medical Office of the Portuguese National Parliament and as a sports medicine cardiologist at the National Center of Sports Medicine, Portuguese Sports Institute. Dr. Infante de Oliveira is an active researcher, participates in many clinical trials and has published a number of peer reviewed articles as well as few book chapters. Dr. Infante de Oliveira received his medical education from University of Lisbon and completed his residency at Hospital Santa Maria in Lisbon, where he also completed a cardiology fellowship. He then completed an interventional fellowship at Sones Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio.
